Christmas came and went surprisingly fast. I recieved some very thoughtful presents but ofcourse I enjoyed giving what I bought more. On Christmas, my entire family went over to my cousin sister's house for lunch and it was fun for there was a huge Christmas tree with presents beneath. We got to open ours as well. After that went over to a friend's place. I got two of the kids there a gift. Both were book : ) I couldn't help myself. The boy loved Ben 10 so I got him this activity book and the girl seemed the Princess kind so I got her the Little Mermaid book.
After that, got home and knocked out. Everything moved rather quickly as the 5 days to new year swished by leaving us to perform for the Countdown ceremony. It was a nice day. We had been practicing all week long. At least the drummers did. The dancers had been practicing much longer than that. At 9.35pm, the drummers took up position and did our thing. We got the crowd riled up and I got to do the whole crowd cheering thing. Then the dancers performed. The organizers liked AFT's performance so much so that they asked us to perform again. So the drummers did an encore at 10.50pm. Then we were asked to lead the guest of honours in (3 MPs).
We did so and by the end of it all, Kanitha, Thana, Naathan, Sameer, Idham, Prabs, Isabelle and my hands ached so badly that we couldn't move it much. Then of course, there were the dancers, Yoga, Kanitha (again), Colin, Jason, Isabelle (again) and the Pretty Boyz all of whom did a brilliant job performing genres such as lyrical hip hop, popping, Street Jazz and old school hip hop coupled with Break dancing. And then there are Henry and Serena. The darlings who cheered us on : )
With that performance, Arteen Furteens (AFT) brought the year 2009 to a good end. I must say I'm proud of every single individual who contributed to the projects. AFT has had an excellent year and 2010 will only prove to be ten times better. If I have anything to say about it ; )
Okay so moving on. Most of the teens left for Marina Bay and Sentosa or to hit the clubs but where were a handful of us? Still in Canberra. Why? Because there were fireworks!!! We were but 10 metres away from the fireworks launch point. We lay on the non crowded grass and watched the fireworks that was only about 30 metres above us. Trust me on this the $15 000 spent on the fireworks was well worth it and all the families watched it in awe. So did the rest of us. Suffice to say, I loved every moment of it.
At this point in time, the writer feels it is necessary to point out that she is beyond sleepy and would like to end this post. I assure you I shall post again with my new year expectations. I am turning 21 this year. Hence it is an important year indeed. Adulthood draws ever closer and I find myself pondering over whether there are certain requirements one must fulfill before one can consider oneself an adult. These questions will be delved into during the next post.
Till then my small but loyal readers, remember this;
Dreams are the stuff of magic,
Golden dust sprinkled when you sleep.
Courage is the thunderous proud lion roar,
An echoing reminder of what stands strong.
Strength is the might of Hercules,
The tale of his defeat against Hades and the Titans.
Love is the fleeting emotion,
That when once felt, lasts a lifetime.
So may your days be filed with fairy dust, a lion's roar, evil Hades and the Titans and of course that one true love you have yet to discover.
