Do I Change As I Grow Older, Or Change Because I'm Older

I looked in the mirror today and saw me. I'm 20 and am an adult. I will be 21 in 3 months and I'll still be an adult then. I'm not growing older, I am older. I am where I was supposed to be 10 years ago.

How many times have I looked myself in the mirror and asked If I was on the right path? And how many times did I answer Yes with confidence? Every single time.

But now, today, I could only ponder and say I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I was on the right path. It's strange because when I was 16, 17, 18 and 19, I assumed that confidence was never an issue for me and no problem was too large for me. As such, a simple question of whether I was on the right path was easy to answer. Yes.

But now? I'm honestly not sure.

And does that make me less confidence or less determined? I thought it did. I thought maybe I was losing that drive.

But I was wrong. I have never felt more confused and more worried about my future before. But I know I am where I am supposed to be. Right here. At this moment. Questioning every single action I had done till this moment and questioning every single action I will be doing from this point forth.

Do I regret certain things I had done in the past? Yes. I am human after all. There are some things if I had not done, would have made certain things easier in the past. But more so, I regret the methods I used to get them done. But I don't wish I done them differently.

Am I proud of myself? I'm not sure. Am I proud of the people around me? Yes. I've always been that way. Disappointed when others are with themselves, happy when others are excited, depressed when others are heartbroken. But never feeling things for myself. The same goes for achievements. I don't personally care for any major achievement I have garnered. They have never mattered to me. Making sure others felt important and were doing something with their lives did matter to me which is why I carried on doing what I did.

But am I willing to be proud of myself. I just realised today, when I looked myself in the mirror, I am ready. I am old and matured and I am ready to start feeling proud of myself. I am changed and am ready to accept the actions to adapt to that change.

I Broke It

I crunched on ice today. As such, I broke the deal and hence the clock shall be removed until I decide to restart the deal.

I'm not disappointed with myself. I rather look forward to the next day or the day after where I'll actually look twice at ice and reconsider crunching it. For at the end of the day, who else am I doing it for other than myself.

Avatar vs Sherlock Holmes

Avatar won by a single vote at 5 vs Sherlock Holmes at 4.

Which did I vote for? Avatar.

Alright why Avatar? Or more so what was the uproar over the movie. First of all, there is the whole 15 years in the making as well as the 50 million dollar budget! Right back to the important facts. Avatar had amazing graphic and designs that wowed audiences. Every single creature and plant was brought to life by the animators and at the end of the movie, I was pulled into the magic that was Pandora, the planet where the entire movie takes place on. Of course, we can't deny that the lead actor was hot as the alien ; ) Sorry...digressing. Ofcourse, the fight scenes were brilliant and any military, gun slinging, nut case would love the military talk as well as weapons used. But in my opinion, what drew the audience to the movie in the first place was not the fight scenes or the whole fight for our planet jazz. It was the underlying tale of two people who fell in love that drew masses of audiences to come to love it. Watching the two lead actors portray emotions of lovers restricted in an alien setting just promises to be an oscar award winning performance. Well it did win 2 oscars ; )

Now Sherlock Holmes. Now now, don't get me wrong. I love Sherlock Holmes as well. Come on, I read the series! But one cannot deny that both Avatar and Sherlock Holmes are both from two different categories and both reign as kings of their individual categories. Don't ask me what categories...it's just a figure of speech! Anyways,Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law carried the movie through with their amazing acting skills as well as charismatic charm. As Robert Downey Jr mentioned at the Oscars, "The directors know that without me Sherlock Holmes would have eaten Avatar's dust." Well it is true. The two lead actors had chemistry on screen that could be very obviously seen. Furthermore, Robert Downey Jr's antics and particular way of speaking never fails to amuse. He's mind scenes are extremely entertaining. If you have watched the movie, you would know which I speak of; the one where he's in a boxing match and he imagines delivering the punches...yes you should know if you've watched it and if you haven't ....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!

So both movies are brilliant but Avatar would be my choice. Anyways, here's another movie to look out for.

Who Am I?

What do you do when your father tells you you're very much like your mother...
And
Your mother tells you you're very much like your father?

Is it wrong to be someone different than the two of them?

I am me after all.

If not, who am I but the mix of both my parents' flaws?

So Sue Me For the Lack of a Better Title

I AM SO FREAKING DEAD TIRED! Mentally tired that is. Just got back from Peter Pan auditions and it was a long grueling day that brought many fascinating people into the rooms. And by the way, I know understand the feeling the judges on American Idol get after a day of judging. Except theirs is 10 times worse. I just wanted to shrivel up under the table and die.

Oh my gosh...I don't want to ever go through that again! 3 weeks, 3 FREAKING WEEKS of seeing people read the same passage and the same dialogue. The only thing that made it worth it was seeing how everyone brought their own rendition to it.

So yeah that was for the auditions part.TIRED!!! *sits on chair and stares at screen blankly for a few seconds* Oh yes today is the 6th day of the no ice regime as well as the 6th day of no L4D2. Good god having ice in my cup and not being able to crunch on it is killing me!!!!! It's not going to be as easy as I thought it would be but I'm tough and will hang in there. As for the L4D2, unless one of us cracks by tomorrow midnight, I suppose both of us win the bet.

Alright, I'm absolutely shacked so this is the end of the post. Till next time ; )

A Rather Blah Day

Swords were drawn as no...

Daggers were flung about as nope...

It was like some epic world war thre...

Damn it! I was trying to flower up what happened at the CCMC (If you don't know what it stands for, I'm sorry I'm not in the mood to type out the whole thing but it's a committee in every community centre) meeting. There was verbal sparring as tensions soared. Seriously. I'm not saying this because I was bored and day dreamed. I mean I did but I was also observant and I knew what was going on in the meeting...moving on...

Anyways that was the ending of my day. So let's backtrack! I've returned to roleplaygateway.com to carry on my roleplaying ways. Colin's joined : ) And you'll should to. It honestly helps you better your english as well as develop your writing skills and creative juices.

Anyways, my mum and sis have been pestering me to find a possible location for my 21st birthday party (which by the way is eons away) and I, on the whim of a moment, mass emailed several venues. Some of them are beautiful but since I've always had a strange fascination with parties in gardens, this place called Gardeneisa caught my attention.

We'll see...I need to  consider all options and also the idea that I may not want to celebrate my 21st birthday. As long as I get a car mum, I don't need this party. *Hint* *Hint* I don't think she even knows this blog exists. Humbug!

So other than that, which is not much, it has been a rather blah day...Yah know...blah as in bland...mundane...redundant...whatever.

PS: Tomorrow's Zah's surprise birthday gathering. At least that'll be noteworthy to blog about.

Ice Crunching Days Are Over

Ever woken up from a dream to only think it's real? I have. And one of its got me having no teeth at all. But that's not the main reason why I'm initiating this self inflicted "NO ICE REGIME". One of my sis' back tooth chipped and she needs to get it filled. The dentist told her to stop biting on ice and my father mocked me with that piece of information.

Pushing the door to my bedroom wide open, he proclaims, "So why don't you follow your sister and carry on crunching on ice? It's a good habit. In fact, it's an excellent one. Carry on darling. Good job." And then he slams the door shut leaving me to ponder over what lunacy had befallen him.

As such, to prove to myself as well as my father that I am more than capable of breaking this ridiculous habit of mine, I'm going to stop biting on ice for a minimum number of 6 months. There's a timer on the side of my blog so that I can keep track of the days I've succeeded in keeping to my plan. So let's see how that goes.

And then ofcourse, there's a 2nd pact I've designed with Prabs. Although I love the game L4D2, I've grown sick of it and despite the fact that most of my friends play it most of the time, I shall find some other activity to keep me busy while they busy themselves killing zombies. Hence, with Prabs, there's a 1 week ban from playing L4D2. Whoever caves first must buy the other a macdonald meal of their choice. I shall have the last laugh! Haha

Oh and for your viewing pleasure...

Nice Songs Come From Surprising Places

Dear Young Man who lost his precious beloved,

that darn thing will grow back again now that you've reached the ripe old age of 17. And instead of wasting time on the normal concessions of congratulating you for turning that age (which by the way I don't get. Why do we congratulate people on their birthday? I suppose if there's anyone we should congratulate on a person's birthday is that person's mother. Congratulations for surviving 17 years of having to raise a child. I've digressed.) I shall simply leave you with a few words of advice.

You have a raw quality about you that leaves everyone wondering about the jewel hidden beneath. Some might try to polish you while others might try to throw more dirt over you to shield that regal quality that could shine through. Whatever it is, or whomever you meet, remember that you and you alone decide your fate, your future and the type of jewel you become.

Alright then ; ) As the title of this post mentioned, I found new songs as well as old songs that I wish to show you. Some songs are not popular and most would probably not have heard of them but they're beautiful and I thought to share. Others you would have heard of before but as time passes, other songs replace them in our heads. So here we go. By the way birthday boy, first song's dedicated to you ; )

#1: Go The Distance

#2: Never Gonna Be Alone By Nickelback

I can't embed the original video here but trust me it's worth watching the video.
It's between a father and daughter.

#3: The End of Days

#4: Evacuate the Dance Floor

And if she looks or sounds familiar, she's the singer for the oh so ever famous, "Everytime we Touch, I get this feeling, And everytime we..." Yeah you know that song ; )

#5: Stamp on the Ground

Typical techno song but the dance moves on the water are nice.

#6: Wouldn't You

It's not an awesome song. But didn't you catch the special guest appearance by Smiggles in a black coat ; ) He's hunched half the time. Honestly it's hard to miss the rapper-wannabe-smiggles.

Women Do Think

We are thinkers. May it be thoughts of "OOOO I wonder if it's going to rain today?" or "OOOO Does that man eat too much because it's depressed" or even "OOOO I wonder if that ant's going to die today?".

So here I was sitting down with my dad watching television and honestly for a second there I spaced out. Like I just blanked. I was not thinking about anything. And I suppose my dad did too because my mum walks in and asks, "Why are the two of you'll watching the chinese channel?"

I shake my head and look at the screen and realise there's some weird lovey dovey drama going on. My dad looks as equally blur as me. Then my mum asks us, "What were the two of you'll thinking about?"

And we both replied, "Nothing." And she didn't believe us.

"Can't be. You'll looked as though you'll were thinking about something important because there was a look of concentration on your face."

"aaaa...mum I really wasn't thinking about anything." I get up and leave for my room leaving my dad to deal with my mum who insisted the two of us were hiding something from her.

So I switch on my laptop and start surfing the net for new songs on youtube and stumble upon russel peters. I hadn't watched his clips in a long time so I thought, "Hey, why don't I watch one of his newer clips!" And lo and behold, I found this.

Naathan: Bloody hell I just healed myself.

Avatar: "I See You"

Walking through a dream I see you

My light in darkness breathing hope of new life

Now I live through you and you through me

Enchanted

I pray in my heart that this dream never ends

I see me through your eyes

Living through life flying high

Your life shines the way into paradise

So I offer my life as a sacrifice

I live through your love

You teach me how to see

All that’s beautiful

My senses touch your world I never pictured

Now I give my hope to you

I surrender

I pray in my heart that this world never ends

I see me through your eyes

Living through life flying high

Your love shines the way into paradise

So I offer my life

I offer my love, for you

When my heart was never open

(and my spirit never free)

To the world that you have shown me

But my eyes could not division

All the colors of love and of life ever more

Evermore

(I see me through your eyes)

I see me through your eyes

(Living through life flying high)

Flying high

Your love shines the way into paradise

So I offer my life as a sacrifice

And live through your love

And live through your life

I see you

I see you

It took me awhile to post about Avatar and my opinion on the movie is what's written above. When I first heard the two main characters utter the words, "I See You" to each other, I thought wow how corny can this get? But after awhile it becomes endearing. How often do you see the real person? For those who claim to have found true love, how often could you look into the eyes of your soulmate and actually say, "I See You"?

James Cameron's movie, "Avatar", grossed US1.2 million in the first 3 weeks since it was released, tossing it into the realm of the top 5 movies ever created. Of course, the first is "Titanic". James Cameron is the only director who can claim the title of directing 2 movies that are in the top 5 movies that earned the most of all time.

What do you think made Avatar beloved by many that it caused most to watch it a second time if not through theatre, by illegal means. Some say it's because of the 15 year hype. Some say it's because of the 3-D effects. Some say it's because of the special effects.

But at the end of it all, the movie is a tale of 2 souls entwined. It's a movie about a trying love story that amazed us all because of the different world it was set in. Leona Lewis' song, "I See You" summarises this movie perfectly for me and I hope it does for you as well.

Screw The Title

I can't seem to think of a cool slick line that will make for a brilliant title. As such, the title shall be the aforementioned. Now on to the important matters that will hopefully make up for me not posting for so long.

Christmas came and went surprisingly fast. I recieved some very thoughtful presents but ofcourse I enjoyed giving what I bought more. On Christmas, my entire family went over to my cousin sister's house for lunch and it was fun for there was a huge Christmas tree with presents beneath. We got to open ours as well. After that went over to a friend's place. I got two of the kids there a gift. Both were book : ) I couldn't help myself. The boy loved Ben 10 so I got him this activity book and the girl seemed the Princess kind so I got her the Little Mermaid book.

After that, got home and knocked out. Everything moved rather quickly as the 5 days to new year swished by leaving us to perform for the Countdown ceremony. It was a nice day. We had been practicing all week long. At least the drummers did. The dancers had been practicing much longer than that. At 9.35pm, the drummers took up position and did our thing. We got the crowd riled up and I got to do the whole crowd cheering thing. Then the dancers performed. The organizers liked AFT's performance so much so that they asked us to perform again. So the drummers did an encore at 10.50pm. Then we were asked to lead the guest of honours in (3 MPs).

We did so and by the end of it all, Kanitha, Thana, Naathan, Sameer, Idham, Prabs, Isabelle and my hands ached so badly that we couldn't move it much. Then of course, there were the dancers, Yoga, Kanitha (again), Colin, Jason, Isabelle (again) and the Pretty Boyz all of whom did a brilliant job performing genres such as lyrical hip hop, popping, Street Jazz and old school hip hop coupled with Break dancing. And then there are Henry and Serena. The darlings who cheered us on : )

With that performance, Arteen Furteens (AFT) brought the year 2009 to a good end. I must say I'm proud of every single individual who contributed to the projects. AFT has had an excellent year and 2010 will only prove to be ten times better. If I have anything to say about it ; )

Okay so moving on. Most of the teens left for Marina Bay and Sentosa or to hit the clubs but where were a handful of us? Still in Canberra. Why? Because there were fireworks!!! We were but 10 metres away from the fireworks launch point. We lay on the non crowded grass and watched the fireworks that was only about 30 metres above us. Trust me on this the $15 000 spent on the fireworks was well worth it and all the families watched it in awe. So did the rest of us. Suffice to say, I loved every moment of it.

At this point in time, the writer feels it is necessary to point out that she is beyond sleepy and would like to end this post. I assure you I shall post again with my new year expectations. I am turning 21 this year. Hence it is an important year indeed. Adulthood draws ever closer and I find myself pondering over whether there are certain requirements one must fulfill before one can consider oneself an adult. These questions will be delved into during the next post.

Till then my small but loyal readers, remember this;

Dreams are the stuff of magic,
Golden dust sprinkled when you sleep.
Courage is the thunderous proud lion roar,
An echoing reminder of what stands strong.
Strength is the might of Hercules,
The tale of his defeat against Hades and the Titans.
Love is the fleeting emotion,
That when once felt, lasts a lifetime.
So may your days be filed with fairy dust, a lion's roar, evil Hades and the Titans and of course that one true love you have yet to discover.
