Malaysia Mayhem

We were only there for 6 hours and the insanity we stirred up still makes me roll over laughing. My mum, sis and myself decided to head down to Malaysia for a little shopping. The two wanted to purchase several stuff while I had the main aim of getting a memory card for my PSP as well as downloading games for the device. So the trip started off with us heading down the road towards Jusco- a shopping centre in Malaysia. But along the way, we spotted another shopping centre....forgot the name...

We strolled about for half an hour and didn't find anything worth purchasing save for a blouse and pants. So we decided to head back to the car and carry onto Jusco. Here's where the problems started. So if my timing is right, the three of us left the shopping centre- that-I-don't-know-the-name-of, it must have been 5.55pm.

So in simple words, we got lost. Yeah we were bloody driving about for 1 hour!!! My sis got a power nap during that time while my mum and I were trying out all sorts of roads...I even got cocky and told her to stay next to the waters... "If we keep near the waters, we're sure to return back to the checkpoint and from there you would know how to drive towards Jusco." She trusted me and yeah.....let's not discuss the outcome other than we ended up at a ferry terminal... (duh! Waters...Ferry terminal...not a checkpoint!)

Soon after sister dear awoke and my mum managed to find her way to the Checkpoint but....WE WERE HEADING TO THE POINT WHERE WE GOING TO HEAD BACK TO SINGAPORE!!! All we wanted to do was reach the road that ran BY the checkpoint not INTO it!!! *sighs* So there we were three females in a stationwagon at a checkpoint counter. My mum proceeds to explain to the man there that we had made a wrong turn and actually wanted to return back. Then the man told us to just drive out all the way (note he didn't take down our vehicle number nor did he stamp our passport) and then U-Turn back.

Sooooo, trusting him, we did just that. And guess what!?! We eneded up traveling along the causeway that linked Singapore and Malaysia. Oh for the love of god!!! My mum had to do an illegal u-turn!!! Can you imagine what would have happened if we had returned back to the Singapore checkpoint with a passport book that was not stamped!!!

Anyways, we returned to the entry point for Malaysia's checkpoint and there, my mum explained to the lady at the counter what had transpired and guess what!?! She just let us through....apparently the world is still a trusting place...SHE DID NOT EVEN CHECK OUT PASSPORTS NOR DID SHE CHECK WITH ANYONE ELSE....SHE JUST LET THREE FEMALES PASS THROUGH INTO MALAYSIA BASED ON WHAT THEY SAID.... (kinks definitely need to be worked out)

So, we began our journey afresh and at this point, we decided we were not going to Jusco. Instead we were going to City Square. MY MUM COULD HAVE JUST TAKEN THE USUAL ROAD but NOOOOO she had to listen to the guard at the checkpoint and take a left turn, go all the way straight and turn left again.

We ended up at some isolated residents centre!!! (I'm suprised there was no gunman to shoot us down and take our car considering how many ULU places we ended up in).

And my mum realising we were lost, drew down her window (wait for it) and opened her mouth (wait for it) to say 'hello' (wait for it) TO A TAXI THAT WAS SPEEDING PAST US!!! My sis and I sat there in silence for a moment for breaking out into laughter. It had been a weak and pathetic 'hello' and she looked so helpless. And I supposed that one hour in the car was finally taking its toll on us.

So yeah...there we were ridiculing my mum for the rest of the journey to City Square. Happy to say we got there, got all we needed to (MY PSP HAS GAMES!!! : ) xD)

Here's the final part of our journey...and I have to thank Prabs for this...

We finally came to the Singapore customs and they were doing car checks (as usual). My mum got out and the officer checked the booth and then, HE CAME TO ME AND ASKED ME WHAT WAS IN MY BAG!?! For those of you who know me, it's the white bagpack. There were two things inside that could have gotten me in trouble right there and then. One was Prab's present for me and the other was *ahem*stuff-I-cannot-mention-cause-my-mum-asked-me-to-swear-I-wouldn't-blog-about-it-or-she-would-disown-me*ahem*. Yeah...so I smiled sweetly at him and opened my bag away from him, and took out Prab's present that was thankfully wrapped but the plastic bag had a picture of a gun on it....He took it, stared at it and asked me...

Officer: "This one gun ah?"

Me: "Huh? No la. It's just a present from my friend.

Officer: (probably thinking it's a bomb) You sure ah? *almost tries to open it*

Me: Yeah I'm sure. *smiles sweetly while wondering if there was a law against people opening your present...there has to be and if there isn't one....I think there should be one*

Officer: Okay. *returns me my present slightly reluctantly*

Me: Then I've got my PSP, some notes....*tries to disctract him from the stuff my mum doesn't want me to mention.

Officer: Okay okay can.

Me: *almost drops down dead as my mum drives away*

So yeah.....that was the trip and thank you mum and sis for those memories!!!

Prabs, thank you for the gift girl!!! The two blades are awesomely cool!!! And they sort of saved me from being caught for bringing the *stuff* in!!! Thank YOU!!!!!!

Monkey Madness

After a long long long time, the 3 monkeys of Yishun Junior College (YJC) got together for 4 hours of nonsense. I first met with Shamala, picking her up from Singapore Polytechnic and from there the two of us journeyed to meet Paki (Zahirah) at Yishun. And guess what!?! Paki got me a necklace from Dubai lol. She calls it the messy-antic-looking-my-kind-of-chain....idiot.

But I loved it sooo much that I put it on instantly. Then, we went to long John Silver where I was the only one who actually ate their food. Sham had subway and Za being the idiot just drank ice lemon tea...

Here's the hilarious part...we began discussing things....like first base, second base, third base and home run!!! Yeah....only some of you'll will get it : )

Then, we talked about Sham's boyfriend (they've been together for 5 months....awwww.....) and mine and Za's lack of one. The two of us decided we definitely wanted a boyfriend who drove, had money and was handsome aka hot. Although each of us has an extra condition. Mine has to be Irish and Za's...has to be a smoker....don't even ask....

This conversation lasted for 2 hours and Long John Silver soon started filling up slowly (I'm still wondering why the staff there did not kick us out when we had finished eating 2 hours ago). And!!!! ALIFF CAME BY!!! Yes mine and Za's friend from AI! My nerd buddy from SEC 1!!! XD

Would you believe he joined our girly conversation!!! Had good laughs yesterday with the three of them. Thank you guys : )

Oh and after that, we went to the library and introduced Sham to romance novels....lol the girl has alot of reading to do....

The Two Men of My Life- atleast for now

Yes, there are two very important men in my life at this moment. For the past 2 weeks, I've been spending enough time with these two fabulous men to know how they think and how they argue. And I have the utmost respect for the way they use the english language to describe philosophy.

Socrates and Plato....come on what other men would I be talking about!?! They're not exactly the most dreamy men but their minds are sharp and at the moment I have reached a point where my mind just cannot absorb anymore imagery or allegorys!!! Good god these men think too much and talk too much.

But I shall soon be leaving these two heart throbs as my final exam for this module is tomorrow and I shall be rid of their odd explanations that in a weird manner appeal to me. For example, the way they liken the Allegory of the cave to the way a man progreses to be a philosopher. Or the Myth of Metals. Or how justice can be compared to injustice in a manner that man might be happier in a situation ruled by injustice as compared to one ruled by justice.

Interesting points- all of it. But at this point, I'm just slugging through the final 2 books of the ten books written by Socrates and produced by Plato and somehow hoping that it would rain chocolates (preferably top deck from cadbury...yes I'm particular....so sue me...)

*sigh* BACK TO THE BOOKS!!! *dashes off to complete her readings...

Awesomest Night Ever!!!

Haunted House, our own mini Club and TRANSFORMERS!!!!

Today, okay well to be accurate, yesterday was somehow brilliantly awesome for me. It was nothing expensive, it was nothing large scale and it was nowhere exclusive. It was at the resident's centre near my block, we spent..zilch, zero, nothing and it was the Jester's Carnival.

I have to admit that seeing my baby project being redone again this year by a different team is worthwhile. It just validated that what I was doing was not wrong....yeah I'm your regular optimist.
Anyways, it begun on Friday when I walked in to find an entire team of youths who could have been anywhere but had chosen to stay and complete an entire haunted house from scratch without being paid.

What do you call that? What do you call a youth that sacrifices time to construct something that would only be torn down afterward and all for nothing? Some call them volunteers....but I find that such a simple term. Maybe there is no word to describe them...maybe there never will be. But if there's one thing I know, these guys are gonna turn out to be amazing people.

Okay done with my emo moment XD.

So we had an entire group of youth down constructing the haunted house the night before. The next day, we headed down, finished it off and prepared for the scare sessions lol. I played the hostess of the haunted house, bringing fresh prey into the deep dark tunnels of our labor. Once there,.....they were on their own. Their screams were like fuel to our tiring muscles...in simple english: We were repaid for our hardwork by their screams. I'm not kidding when I say that some of their reactions were ridiculously hilarious. Good god! A few refused to budge from the entrance door. I HAD TO PRY THEIR FINGERS OFF ME AND PUSH THEM IN!!!

So once that was done, we decided to go loony and cut the 50 over lightsticks we had with us. Upon doing that, we flung the glowing liquid within the transparent sticks against the black garbage bags that hung about. The liquid got onto the ceiling and floor as well. So we looked like we were in a techno club with glow paint all over us and the room. Boy did we go crazy after that. XD

Then...TRANSFORMERS!!!! I will never get tired of the plot and part 2 is coming out in JUNE!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!

Missing...

For those of you who have actually come in to check up on blog, you would have noticed the tiny changes....Okay fine....the rather large, background-changing-chatbox-missing kind of changes.

I wanted to test out all the backgrounds just for the fun of it. Some were tacky, some were just plain hideous!!! They should seriously remove those. And some were just...well...*yawn*.

I've decided to stick to this background for a few simple reasons of which I won't share with you as I'm completely deviating from what I wanted to post.

So, we had the first ever Arteen Furteens meeting on the 18th of April 2009 (Saturday). We started off at 7pm...or atleast we were SUPPOSED to start of at that time...3/4 of them came in late...something I didn't really appreciate. But what the hell...

The meeting went well I would say. We closed the CinderElla revamped account and we moved on to our workplan and we formed our committee.

You seriously have to look out for our events and programs : ) They're awesome!!!

So this week has been pretty much a routine for me. Wake up, study, eat, study, sleep (yes....I shower somewhere between one study period and one eating period....)

Exams are starting next week so this will be the routine I'm gonna follow *Sobs*.

Oh oh oh!!!! I've got my first violin class today!!! *does the happy dance* Woot!!!! Will tell you how that went...

I'm Still Awake at 3.30am in the morning!!!

Someone just take a gun and point it to my head. God my eye is twitching, my fingers are aching and I'm still awake. *sobs*

Just plant a bullet in my head and put me out of my misery. Sigh...

Good news though: I'VE FINISHED MY ESSAY!!! ONE LAST PROJECT TO GO AND I'M COMPLETELY DONE!!!! HAHAHAHA

god I've finally gone bonkers...so anyways, am just blogging in an attempt to take a short break before I jump into the final project. I've got citations, citations and more citations to do...*contemplates jumping of a building*.

Oh and found one more person who wants to go on that 2 week trip to Europe at the end of the year....Indra!!! So as of now it is my sis, Serena and Indra....we just need a few more people and we're good to go : )

Ireland here I come!!!

Sister's Day Out...

So my day started out pretty normally...me rushing to complete my essay whilst trying to complete a project proposal. But in the evening, my sis and I headed out to meet Isabelle and Jennifer (their sisters). We ate at Burger King and chatted for nearly an hour or two.

And guess what!?! I signed up for my violin class!!! You are looking at the next....I should probably attend at least one lesson first before I complete that sentence. Yeah so anyways I'm going for violin lessons....Woohooo!!! XD

I shall hone and perfect my music skills lol. And to my dear organ: I shall never abandon you dear dear instrument...I shall still play you : )

Okay...I sound like a nutcase now...

Oh and by the way, I have decided to start my own movie review segment...I'll write about my opinions on selected movies (meaning movies I've actually watched XD). So here we go.

Knowing
(4 Stars)
Where would you be when the world came to an end? What would you do if there was no stopping what was to come? Would you fight for your life? Or would you hold your loved ones close during those final moments?

Knowing is a movie that imprints these questions in your mind, leaving you with mixed emotions at the end of it all. 50 years ago, a young girl wrote 2 pages of numbers that you will soon discover are premonitions. What would you do if you knew what was to happen next? Would you prevent it? Would you save lives?

But what if it all didn't matter?

Nicholas Cage plays the role of a widowed father brilliantly as he portrays his strained relationship with his son alongside the intricate plot of disasters and premonitions.

His whole world is thrown into a whirlwind when his son discovers a paper covered in random numbers. But he soon discovers that maybe everything happens for a reason. This sparks of an entire movie that leaves us wondering whether our lives are significant enough in this infinite space we call the universe.

That's the best I can do at this time lol. But this movie is a must watch as it is based on an interesting plot that manages to carry other interlacing story lines very well.

Yup so....that's all I've got for today....oh yeah one more thing....

I'VE ONLY GOT ONE MORE ESSAY LEFT!!!!! AND I'M DONE!!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!!!

Stress

STRESS!!!! Ah!!!!!

I have no idea how the hell I am going to get through the next two weeks. It's not even the main exam week and yet the workload is crazy. I've got two tests this Thursday- one for German and another for a science module. Then ofcourse comes the following Monday where I've got two essays due and 1 exam. And then, next Friday, the final essay deadline.

Plus...I've got other extra projects running at the same time. But the odd part is that it's not as though this workload just appeared. I've always had a pile of work to do every week but it seems as though I'm so used to the work that I tend to slug through it without realising how much there is.

This is an unncessary post and yet *in the most dramatic manner possible* a revelation of my stress *proceeds to faint*. Lol I'll survive this week and the next and the next and the following...

*yawns as the pointless ranting tires her*

I shall proceed to sleep now...hopefully when I wake up inthe morning, this will all just prove to be a dream and...pigs will fly...

right then, back to reality!!!!! *trudges away to carry on with the assignment*

Chalet!!!! Kumpong style

Honestly when I got my first look of the cake, I was shocked at how AWESOME it was!!! The music sheet looked so real and the cake looked too delicious to be eaten : ) I have to seriously thank my mum for purchasing such a pretty cake. And it tasted equally well. The filling was vanilla sponge with chocolate layers....yummy!!! So here's an explantion of the cake and why it's picture is up here. No, my birthday has yet to come. It is on the 11th of April 2009 a week from now. My sis birthday was on the 2nd of April so we decided to celebrate our birthdays together at a.....chalet!!! It was a hut...kampung style but it was brilliant (despite the fact that this writer attained more mosquito bites that she can count).

It started on the 3rd of April (Friday) and dragged on to end today on the 5th of April 2009 (Sunday).
So we headed down to Sentosa at about 2pm....but because of some people *cough* charismatic kid *cough*, we were delayed and ended up only reaching Sentosa at about 5pm... Anywho it was just me, Indra, Sameer and KC there first...odd bunch...me hanging out with my brother's friends...but hey weirder things have happened. So the four of us booked in and recieved our first mosquito bites!!!! YAY!!! (writer scratches her legs annoyed at the itchiness of the bites)
Then slowly the rest started trickling in. The above two are my bro's friends...Idham and KC...in the hut...one trying to sleep and the other trying....I'm actually not sure what he's trying to do.

Then, at one point, we all squeezed into one hut and got Idham to convert every english song we knew into a malay rendition. At this point, I emphasise that we only asked him to sing the songs not to perform it. But Idham being the amazing performer he is, pulled his snow cap down over his eyes (so as to not see our faces as it would distract him), plugged his earpieces into his ears, clicked on the buttons of his MP3 player and began crooing to the songs of his choice whilst freakishly moving his body to the tunes. I say freakishly because I have never seen anyone move the way he does...no seriously....

After a few laughs at his whacked up performance, we all decided to leave Idham alone by silently creeping out of the hut and closing the door, gigling at the notion of Idham still singing. Ofcourse I having faith in the intelligent boy assumed that he would quickly realise that we had all left and stop singing...yeah...it was misplaced trust in his intelligence because he was still singing away....

Anywho, once my mother had slept, a few of us made a trip down to the 7 eleven where we picked up our good old friend Naathan. So it was my sis, me, Kanitha, Thana, Prabs, Indra and Naathan at the merlion's walk, eating ice cream and food whilst mocking Naathan simply because it was all of our favourite pastime...at least it's mine.

Evantually we headed back to the beach where Kanitha, Indra, my sis and me climbed up one of the lifeguard's tower to relax...until the rest arrived....pissed off, I climbed back down all the while saying this: "I'm pissed off with you guys for making me come down and just know that I am really annoyed with you and..."

That is ofcourse until my brother produced a violin...awwww...I love you GUYS!!! (yes, the writer is a fickleminded idiot...no arguements there)

Thank you KC, Sameer, Iqmall, Praven and ofcourse DAD!!!

The violin is a beautiful piece!!! (jumps around excited at the notion of playing the instrument)

Alright alright, back to the topic at hand....soon Isaac arrives with Isabelle and Jennifer and my sis recieves her guitar as a birthday gift.

Night falls, we sleep and a new day begins that evantually ofcourse ends up with the cake cutting and the rest of the musical people arriving. Let's just say the other hut was making weird noises that I cannot describe.

My bro and I attempt to sleep at the poolside on the benches but fail tremendously at that attemp due to the numerous mosquitoes that approcahed our bare legs.

At this point, I would like to say this: "I AM NEVER SHAVING MY LEGS BECAUSE MY HAIR IS A VITAL PART TO KEEPING PESTS LIKE MOSQUITOES AWAY FROM YOU!!! WITH MY HAIRLESS LEGS, IT WAS BLOODY EASIER FOR THOSE DAMN CREATURES TO NAVIGATE THEIR WAY TO MY BLOOD"

So, we shifted back into the hut where I sat upright whilst my brother became the new doormat for out hut.

OHHHHH I FORGOT A VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF INFORMATION...

Ladies and Gentlemen!!!! Presenting: THE SYMPHONY OF SNORES!!!! AND OCCASIONALLY HANDPHONE RINGS AND ALARMS!!!

Program sheet:
*Cues the monstor truck snore courtesy of Naathan*
Unable to sleep due to this monstrosity, I beckon for someone to aid me in hitting Naathan so as to shut him up (I am unable to do so myself as I am on a double decker bed while Naathan was on the floor). Plan fails and I try to sleep. Soon, I get used to the Monstor Truck Snore that is until Naathan's phone starts beeping in the most ANNOYING MANNER EVER FREAKING 5 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jennifer at this point shuts his phone off.

Soon, Jennifer and I manage to fall asleep until.....the sidekick of the monstor truck began her tunes...Prabs....sigh....

At this point, I though it was my cousin brother Thana. I proceed to complain about him to Jennifer. Thana then shouts this: STOP COMPLAINING OKAY!!! BECAUSE IT IS NOT ME!!! AND AT LEAST YOU DON'T HAVE THE SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM

LOL Thana was sleeping in between Prabs and Naathan....HAHAHAHAHA

yeah so that music piece lasted till morning...

Anywho, the chalet was fun and there were moments I would definitely not forget. And ofcourse celebrating my birthday with my sister was worthwhile as well.

Btw thanks Henry and Ganesh for your too beautiful to eat chocolates that they are still sitting in my fridge untouched. Thank you Kelving for the cute pencil with a knitted bear head (upon which one of my nephews slobbered upon). Thank you ninjerellas for the card and the chocolates. Thank you Jennifer and Isabelle for the unmentionables...(I hate you'll). Thank you darling Han Zhi for the beautiful message and chain. Thank you Praven and guys and dad for the violin!!!!

And ofcourse thank you mum for the amazing chalet, the beautiful cake and your love.

Shanty, Happy Birthday darling sister. I know we fight alot but we love each other very much and know that I will always be here for you. You are an amazing person with her whole life ahead of her and I know that someday you're going to do something amazing.

Don't ever give up on something you love because you deserve only the best in life little sister. And whatever it is, come and talk to me K?

Love you Shanty and stay the same always!!!!
