BRO HUGGER

Are you a bro hugger, a man who hugs other men? We have two words for you: stop and it. Here's a handy list for when you're not sure whether a guy-to-guy clutch is appropriate:

Hug Me
I return from combat
Someone dies
I earn a degree
I go into surgery

Don't Hug Me
I spring for lunch
I get hit in softball (or for Singapore's case 'football')
I get over a cold
I get blackjack

By, Steven Wright
I felt like starting of with that today. Found it in the March issue of Reader's Digest. Along with it, I found out that Gurmit Singh is in the tenth position for the title of 'People Singaporean Trust'. It's a good read. Explains alot about how people place trust in TV figures and how sincerity is one of the key attributes when one comes to trust someone else.

Anywho, alot has happened. Andrew's birthday party took place. It was fun especially with this dude Patrick who was drunk like hell and then of course Yoga had to go all mighty crazy. He asked me if he should go all crazy and when I said yes, he was all bro like with Paul Twohill...that's how you spell his name right? Anyways, Yoga was all out crazy and it was funny to watch as he tried to steer Patrick and his entirely drunk friends away from the non- drunks. Funniest part, Patrick again. Here's a conversation that took place between Patrick, the Chinese drunk fellow, and Andrew, the Indian birthday boy. (I don't even know why I'm giving you the race. Might as well start listing down their height and weight along with it. Okay...I'm going to stop here before it stops getting funny : ))

Patrick: Andrew. Andrew. Andrew. (He talks in a British accent. Despite not being one.)

Andrew: Yes Patrick. (Says it like he's talking to a 5 year old.)

Patrick: Andrew I want this to be the most fabulous birthday party of your life.
(At this point, I'm thinking: WHAT PARTY???? The party ended like an hour ago when most of Andrew's friends and family went home! This was the slacking session!!! Whereby some of Andrew's friends stay back to hang out with him! But I decide to shut up and keep this to myself.)

Andrew: Thank you Patrick.

Patrick: I say....( he pauses for dramatic effect while emphasizing his British accent) you follow me over there and I get you drunk.

Andrew: No it's okay Patrick. (Still speaks as though to a 5 year old.)

Patrick: Andrew. Andrew. Andrew.

(I'm rolling my eyes at this point. Seriously....when will the dude stop!?!)

Andrew: Yes Patrick? (The ever so kind Andrew)

Patrick: Are you having the best, most fabulous time of your life ever? (wow...)

Andrew: Yes.

Patrick: BULLSHIT! (ahahahahahha)

Andrew: What? (sorry Andrew. You didn't hear him the 1st time did you. He'll say it again.)

Patrick: Bullshit! (what a character!)

So yeah that was my first meet with a drunk. Hilarious but also painfully sad. Painfully because I couldn't imagine myself in that position! Not knowing what the heck I was doing and not being able to control myself! Seriously if I ever wanted to get drunk, I'll do it in the comfort of my own home, lock myself in the room, drink, talk to the walls, rip my clothes, shout "BULLSHIT!" to the world from my window and then get kicked out from my home by my parents. YUP. That's what I'll do.

Besides that joyous most memorable occasion, the next few days were pretty normal. OH WAIT! French class. I started on Saturday and I kinda walked into the class picturing a Singaporean teaching the language and to my surprise, a good surprise, it was a French man : ) He had the accent and all even while speaking in English. I'm not saying that Singaporeans can't teach the language. They can. It's just that it's even better when a person of that country actually taught you. It's like viewing France their eyes.

And now I'm just ranting...Indication that this post you should end. In fact it is an indication for any blogger to stop. When one is rambling, nothing productive comes out of it.

2 Deaths

I used to think Canberra was rather dull. It seemed neither here nor there. It was simply a location between Yishun and Woodlands.

Not any longer.

I don't appreciate the fact that the news that will make our location more popular is 2 deaths.

Tonight, a Philippine maid died as a gray pick up truck hit and ran over her. She died, crushed. This was at the junction in front of Canberra Primary School.

At the same time, someone else died at Sembawang MRT station. The body was covered at the benches just outside the 7 Eleven of the MRT station. The reason for that death is unsure but rumors have been going around that it is murder. Once again, it is unconfirmed.

At first I thought, wow! Who would have thought this would have happened in Canberra. And soon that subsided and a feeling of sadness just seemed to wash over after that. It is depressing. No one deserves to die like that and no one deserves to carry on living knowing that they killed someone like that. The Chinese man, who had knocked the maid over, was in tears when it was declared she was dead. He was placed in the police car and looked to be stunned.

Imagine waking up every morning knowing you were responsible? And what about her family back in her country? Her employer, a Chinese female was also crying rather badly together with her young son when they arrived at the scene.

Despite the fact that I had hoped for excitement to take place in Canberra. This was not it.

Last Weekend Mayhem Part 2

Yeah so here's the continuation of the previous post. By the way I'm so energized I'm rearing to take on anything at this point!!!!

Okay back to the issue at hand. Right after the 21st Birthday party, headed back for Soundwave practice which lasted till 3.30am in the morning. Went back home, slept at 5.30am and then woke up at 8am again. Did house chores and then rushed down to the CC for one final practice before we performed and I will stick by this: We did a good job guys despite the lack of proper acting. The beats were good and all we have to do now is keep getting better and better.
Sameer resting before the performance. Everyone was too tired. We only practiced the night before and hadn't had enough sleep.

Idham/ Bob Azli jamming on his guitar...or was it Prabs'?

Soundwave: Percussion team/ Chair Stackers

Look at how many chairs we stacked!!!! We're bloody professionals!!!

Anyways, hung out with them for awhile before rushing over to my uncle's place for his birthday party.

Family picture!!! And I'm the at the top left hand corner in a green jacket, looking like a guy....Sigh.

That's his cake!!! Delicious much!!! Woohoo! Layers and layers of sinful chocolate and who can forget that crisp thin layer of chocolate wafer!

That's the uncle we were celebrating for. After that we played a game where we wrote down a memory we have and shared with him. I wrote down a simple statement, "GO JC. NO POLY" It was a memory that all my cousins and I shared of our intellect driven uncle. lol

We call the one on the extreme right, "Baldy".

Haha! So that was for the previous weekend. The very next day, last Monday, my mum and I went down to run some errands and then headed over to her friend's new house for housewarming. Now in my experience, at least in my limited experience from attending Indian Housewarming, there's Indian food, lots of smoke, cue the tears (from the smoke) and then hasty retreats to homes. But this was so different!!!!!

Her table setting is gorgeous. I felt like I was at some high tea.

The food!!!

There was spaghetti, pizza, chicken curry, Thosai... YUM!!!!

AND THERE WAS DESSERT AS WELL!!!

I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN!!!

God loved me that day ; )

So that was that weekend. There was so much that happened this weekend as well and I'll post about it tomorrow. Promise : )

Last Weekend Mayhem Part 1

Right....Kind of odd how I'm posting up whatever happened last weekend only now. Procrastination is not a good characteristic my friends and yet I'm a huge fan of it ; ) Anywho, last weekend was a whirlwind of activity and I didn't manage to squeeze in enough sleep during that weekend.

To start off, Friday night was our performance for Soundwave, the percussion group under Arteen Furteens (AFT) of which I am the chairman of. Anyways, we practiced the day before and on the day itself and it turned out pretty okay and we officially have shirts!!!

So after that, we all head on home and the next day, I awaken bright and early to perform my house chores as well as to give tuition. Yeah...nothing fantastic yet haha : )

Right after my tuition ends, my mum whisks my sister and I off to some high tea that she booked for the females of my family. So my cousin sister, Vani, my sister-in-law, Michelle, my mum's sister and my niece, Yashinee went along as well. But ofcourse, there were 3 males there; the three nephews of mine, Suria, Haresh and Avinesh.

It was at Pacific Hotel and it usually costs, $40 but if you are a member, you can get it for $20. Honestly, either way, it is worth it. Here are some pictures:

This was in the car on the way to the hotel. My sis and my nephew Haresh got alittle too excited with the drawing board.

According to my sister, that's a drawing of me.

That's my sister-in-law, Michelle. And this is our table. It's really beautiful and the one thing I love about the setting of this high tea is that unlike the rest that I've been too with my mum and sis, the seating arrangement here is very enclosed so that you can have like a corner to your company and yourself. And ofcourse the lighting is warm and all. I honestly recommend this place to you : )

OUR FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAKES AND SCONES!!! AND WHIPPED CREAM!!! AND SCONES!!! DID MENTION CAKES!?! There's at least 10 different types of cakes. And that's not including the Quays.

There was Chinese Rojak (DIY) but I didn't eat it. My sis did and she claimed it was fantastic. You have to trust her on this because anyone who knows her can vouch that my sister is one of the biggest Chinese Rojak eaters around.
And there's ice cream of course!!! 3 different flavours and you scoop it yourself!

Sigh. After eating there, I felt too happy to even want to move. There's so much more food items I have not listed down here or taken picture of. But you have to trust me when I say it was worth the money!

Pictures of the family members...my mum's the one in red.

All the adorable little tykes are in the picture as well. From the left, the two dressed identically are the brothers, Haresh and Avinesh and on the right is the sweet, tomboyishly active Yashinee.

My mum and the little monster. I'm telling you right now, he's faking that smile! That kid is one cheeky boy and would do anything to make someone look ridiculous. So when I asked him to smile, he did this at first...(the one below)

And it was only when I made noise that the little monster took the smiling shot way above. Smart little critter.

So after high tea, we walked around Marina Square abit before we headed home. I was feeling entirely too sleepy but had to snap myself out of it for I had a birthday party to attend. My friend Naven from YJC was celebrating his 21st and we were to go dressed up as our favourite star. I wanted to go as Cheryl Cole...Big dreams...Limited makeup skills lol!

Here's some pictures from the birthday party:

Kanitha and I.

 Me, Yuvin and Shruthi.

I didn't take any pictures at the birthday party. In fact, these are all other people's camera pictures. I shall take more next time peeps. Promise.

So that is the 1st part. There's a 2nd part but it's 2.13am in the morning and I have to be up at 7.30am to do my house chores and to then head off for the 1st ever Peter Pan Revamped rehearsals. So I'll complete the 2nd half of this wonderful post tomorrow : )

Till then. Sweet Dreams and Early Mornings!!!

New Boots and DXO

My left foot is twitching every few seconds and my right foot needs to be amputated because I can't feel a thing on it. The new boots have rendered me immovable for the next few hours. But they look awesome and besides since boots are one of the few fashionable items I actually adore, I'll tolerate the pain : )

Alright so I went out with Serena at the beginning of the day. We went around Canberra and took shots for the Canberra Newsletter. It's the top 5 Editor's Pick for hotspots to hang out at. And then we were joined by my sis and Prabs and all of us went to eat at Estens (Ah crap. How do you spell it?) So the food is brilliant as always. Then with Serena heading home to study for her exam, the rest of us headed down to Orchad, Far East Plaza to buy me my boots!!!!!!!

We walked and walked and walked and walked and well you get the idea. It was only towards the end that I found my boots and only at $47! Woohoo! I'll take a picture and put it up as soon as my feet allow me to move.

Then I left my sis and Prabs to head down to DXO, a club at City Hall, near the Esplanade. They were having a show by "The Comedy Club". The routines were funny but not hilarious enough. I was laughing hard at some jokes but not falling off my seat as I do when I watch Russel Peters's shows on youtube. Damn it. But I would still recommend anyone to add "The Comedy Club" on facebook and attend any sketch shows they put up. They are good. But I think my funny bone was dead because my feet were killing me.

And now I'm home, nursing my feet to health so that I can perform at tonight's family day movie screening with Soundwave (percussion group under Arteen Furteens, an arts group). So I'm going get some shut eye and pray that my feet recover by morning. Till the next time ; )

Asia's First Biggest Loser Looks Unhealthy!

Aaron Mokhtar came in 3rd place with a total of 60kg lost. He looks really good and appears very healthy.

Carlos Miguel came in 2nd with a total loss of 61kg. He looks really good! haha!

And then here's the winner of the Biggest Loser...HE LOOKS BLOODY UNHEALTHY!!!!
Dude come on! I think he looked better with all the weight!!! God. What are they trying to promote!?! Loose weight till you look unhealthy!?! Or maybe it's just me. Maybe he is healthy. But appears unhealthy.

He lost 83kg, more than half his original weight. I think women would have dated him  if he was the previous size rather than the current weight he has...

I think some people actually look better when the big sized. And they can be equally healthy as well. I know two females who are bigger than me but have better stamina then I'll ever have. And they look good too.

So all I'm saying is; Is it really that worth it to  loose so much weight only to appear unhealthily skinny?

Pirate Crazed

First of all, thanks ah idiots. This is like the what...third picture you jerks took with my phone behind my back. No wonder you were giggling Sameer. None of you'll are allowed to touch my IPhone.

Anyways, speaking of pictures, visit this site:
Serena's Version of The World

: ) She's started putting up pictures she took with her IPhone and some of them are seriously amazing. My favourite is the one of the light shining through the leaves ; )

So back to the point at hand. I just realised as I was staring at my room today that I do have many stuff that are pirate related.

The Pirate Ship that Prabs bought for me as well as my book titled, "Pirateology". It even has a working compass on the cover!!!! The ship is a replica of the "Queen Anne's Revenge

More Pirate Ships. Seriously there's four of them in my room. And inside that old antique mini cupboard are medals, a gun (Serena bought it for me) and blades (one from Prabs, the rest collected over time).

A compass my brother bought for me. It's chinese influenced. So the zodiac calender is inscribed into it.

And ofcourse my chests. The larger one contains the stones and rocks my friends got for me from all over the world while the smaller one is a time capsule in which some of my friends and I worte down messages to our future selves. So in another 7 more years, we can open it! Woohoo!
: ) So yeah. I'm pirate- crazed. Haha. Such a pointless post XD

"Alice In Wonderland" VS "Through The Looking Glass"

It all began with Alice falling asleep under her tree as her older sister read her a story from her book. She awoke only to discover a white rabbit holding a timepiece. The timeless adventure we all know then begins as Alice, curious by nature, follows the white rabbit down a hole.

Now a lot of people have misconceptions about the two differing books, "Alice in Wonderland" and its sequel, "Through the Looking Glass". More so because of the new movie directed by Tim Burton. The title of the movie is "Alice in Wonderland" but the storyline is a merger of both the first and second book. And so, many misconceptions have arisen.

I'm here to BUST those misconceptions.

3 FALSE THINGS YOU ASSUME ABOUT ALICE IN WONDERLAND

1) Queen of Hearts = Red Queen

NO! That is completely untrue. First of all, The Queen of Heats is from the first book "Alice in Wonderland" while the Red Queen is from "Through the Looking Glass".

They have no similarities whatsoever other than the fact that they are Queens. The Queen of Hearts rules a deck of cards while the Red Queen governs the chess board. Two totally different characters.

Then who is it you ask who really shouts the classic line,
"OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!"
That would be the Queen of Hearts(above picture) from the first book. In the original Disney cartoon, as seen above, the Queen of Hearts was portrayed perfectly. However, in Tim Burton's movie, the Queen is a mixture of both the Queen of hearts and the Red Queen because despite being called the Red Queen, she is adorned in an outfit with many hearts and she walks about shouting "Off With Their Heads"!

2) TweedleDee and TweedleDum are from Alice's First Adventure

NO! They're not. TweedleDee and TweedleDum only appear in the sequel, "Through the Looking Glass". Even the Disney cartoon falsely included TweedleDee and TweedleDum into the first tale, "Alice in Wonderland".
3) The Jabberwocky is a fearsome creature the Red Queen uses to keep people under her command.

False. Unlike in Tim Burton's movie, the Jabberwocky in the books is not a beast. In fact, this is
THE JABBERWOCKY

The poem

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Now as you can see, the poem does describe a beast called the Jabberwock however, in the book, there is no beast, simply this poem. And Humpty Dumpty makes an appearance in "Through the Looking Glass" where he tries to decipher the poem. THERE IS NO BEAST IN THE BOOK. Also, this poem is actually considered one of the most nonsense poem in English literature. No shock there ; ) Oh and if you've watched the movie, the words that I've enlarged in the poem should be familiar to you. Like the "VORPEL" sword.

Those are the 3 most important misconceptions one might have and there are still many more but of no significance.

I watched the movie by Tim Burton just yesterday and I have to say it was abit of a letdown. Johnny Depp's acting did not live up to the hype of the media. And oddly enough, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and the new actress playing Alice carried the show through. It was an amazing setting with good effects but storyline wise, I was let down.

When I watched Alice In Wonderland cartoon 8 years ago, I was frightened and confused but when I watched the movie yesterday I was left bland. It was not as confusing as it should have been and the movie actually had a sense of purpose. Wonderland should not have a sense of purpose. It's meant to contradict and conflict.

I'd still recommend people to watch it just not to have such high expectations because when you leave the theater, you will be properly satisfied and not improperly confused.

A Day on Earth Has Been Shortened

2004: Earthquake in Asia caused the Earth to move by around seven centimeters and chopped an estimated 6.8 microseconds off the length of a day, NASA said.

2010: Powerful earthquake that shook Chiles on Saturday caused the Earth's axis to shift by eight centimeters. A day would have shortened by 1.26 microseconds, Gross calculated.

You can check out the link above for the full article.
Odd isn't it? But a few microseconds are not going to affect you. You needn't change the time on your watch or  adjust the clocks at home. However, I was just thinking. If every large scale earthquake could possibly shift the Earth's axis by abit, wouldn't a day on Earth shorten terribly in total for all the major earthquakes we've had over the Millenium?

I PHONE LIVES!!!

Oh my god! The weirdest thing just happened. I was about to unplug my dead I Phone from the com when it suddenly came back to live. Wait hold on....*goes to check if she wasn't dreaming it* No! It really is alive! HAHA! And the videos are there!!!! WOOHOO!!! FOLKS WE'LL HAVE THE VIDEO OF THE "TEN TYPES OF PEOPLE IN A MEETING" UP SOON : ) : ) : )

The I Phone is still not something I'll recommend though. I'm just happy it's working and that all my contacts are not lost.

Unsuspecting Victim to Pictures

My I Phone has been the cause of some painful and funny moments for me. First of all, a notification that my I Phone has died. Yes the 3G, black coloured I Phone is now dead and gone. My brother is going to help me exchange it. (He doesn't know this yet though) So to all those people who have been using my phone for entertainment during meetings, it is now gone. So find someone else to bugger.

Alright back to the topic at hand. I've just managed to somehow transfer all the pictures from my I Phone to my laptop. Yes, it transfers but refuses to switch on. And to all those people who were part of the video taking for "TEN TYPES OF PEOPLE YOU WILL ENCOUNTER DURING A MEETING". I'm sorry. I couldn't rescue the videos. They're missing. All my videos are missing. As well as my song recordings.

Bloody I Phone. Curse it.

But like I said the pictures are saved. And I just found a couple of pictures I never knew were taken with my I phone. Here they are...

Real idiots. In my own house furthermore. And on top of that they're my brother's friends. Seriously. I need to get a boyfriend and move away to England.

And then there's this one. WHO TOOK IT!?! Kanitha, you look forlorn in this picture dear ; ) "Please let me eat my food in peace. Why do you always have to point the camera at my face?" I suspect either Serena, Prabs or Yoga or Isabelle did this.

When the hell did this happen!?!?!?!?!?! Bloody hell. Henry and close ups of his face. CURSE WHOEVER TOOK THIS SHOT!

Or wait. Did I take this while he was sleeping in the bus....Nah! Someone else did.

And ofcourse the winner that takes it all home is this one...

HAHAHA! Bet you thought I'll never put it up you fiends! Yes. Sadly Idham and Sameer have had a soft spot for each other. It was only at Prabs birthday party that they started exploring this a little more.
*still depressed over loss of I Phone*

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole was originally from the girl group, "Girls Aloud". And now she's producing tracks on her own.
Here are 3 of her songs. Note how each one is so completely different from the other. It's amazing how she pulls it off.

Fight For This Love:

3 Words:
