Moving In

Sadly, I wanted to post this up yesterday itself but couldn't because I couldn't get internet connectivity. Thanks Rajiv for trying though : )

Anyways, yesterday was tiring but pleasant. Went to school with Serena in the morning and attended my lecture for that day; Intro to public Administration...So many readings to do.

Then, Serena and I ate lunch at Burger King before heading over to Woodlands Regional Library for Splat! Rehearsals. By the way Serena, I'M SO FREAKING GLAD YOU'RE IN NUS xD

At Splat!, Yoga just had to drama mama one part but he had all of us laughing hard...espicially a certain someone hehe.

I had to rush off before the rehearsals ended because I was giving tuition. Damn it because Serena, Prabs, Naathan and Yoga met up and had dinner and script meeting.

By the time I got home after that, it was 9pm. My mum looked at me and asked, "Are you sure you want to move in tonight?"

I nodded my head and she packed up the stuff for us to shift over. Honestly, I love the fact that she came along because it made a hell of alot of difference that she was there.

And then, Prabs calls as I'm placing my stuff into my dad's car and says she wants to pass me something. As I was rushing off, I just asked her to get into the car. lol She hopped in and there we were, my dad, my mum and Prabs on our way to NUS Raffles Hall.

Once there, my mum and Prabs helped me carry my stuff up to the room and we organised everythin. Thank you guys : )

They had to leave of course but not before Prabs passed me a package with these items in it:

1) A box of my favourite chocolates!!!
2) A joke that she and Ganesh Wrote. I hate you'll for that btw.
3) A few pieces of paper and a pen for me to write stories xD
4) A pirates book from the kids section of the library.

Thank you Prabs cause the stuff really did help.

And mum, thank you for being so supportive and understanding.

Seriously, the day was nice.

The week has been great.

Special Day

I got up from my bed realising that I was not going to use the good old room much. I'm shifting out to a room on campus at Raffles Hall. It's rundown and all but with my mum's help, we managed to make it comfy for me. I'm bringing down some more stuff to the room later today at around 8am. And I shall have officially bunked in.

Anyways, got up, settled some Splat! matters and buckled down to study abit for my first lecture that is today : )

Then, had a nice chat with Ravin over the phone about random nonsense that had no relation to each other whatsoever. Evantually, Prabs, Ganesh, Ravin and I decided to meet for dinner. We ate at Pastamania! There, we realised Ravin giggled very much like a girl although we already knew that.

Then, headed over to the RC where Sameer, Idham, Gautham, Kanitha, Sathim and my brother were studying. Ganesh joined them while Ravin, Prabs and I hung out abit more and chatted, once again, about random nonsense.

We went over to Sun Plaza bought chocolates and sweets before walking back very very very slowly xD. Prabs taught me how to harmonize with her on a song. I tried...lol

Then, Ganesh joined us and we crooned to several songs we knew. "Go on now go! Walk out the door!....I will survive! I will survive!!!" hehe

The Ravin and Sathim left and Prabs walked me back to my block. On the way back, the two of us started hearing a cat whining. We thought it was from above but it ended up being from below. There was a cat stuck in the gutter. Prabs, being the brave knight she is, lifted the gutter and rescued the cat. Brilliant job Prabs!!!

And so there's my special day. Nothing overly bombastic. Everything was simple. But special.

PS:

To someone special,

You know you are loved by each and everyone of us and obviously so do I. I don't mention it much, I rarely say it but I do care about you dearly.
No matter what I say, or the words that slip from my mouth, I will always have your back.

So trudge through the remaining months in army and suffer the blows of life. Because at the end of it, there will always be a group of us waiting for you.

No matter what.

PPS: PSLE Kids, 'O' Level and 'N' Level monkeys and 'A' Level darlings, a few more months to go so hang in there. After all the mugging and cramming and exam papers, we'll make sure you'll have fun!

The weekend was nice.

Saturday started off rather painfully with rehearsals at Woodlands Regional Library for the production under Splat!. Painful because I was in literally in pain. My whole body was aching and because of that I didn't want to travel to NUS for a discussion forum. If I had, I would have had to rush back for Splat! at 1pm. That was the original plan but because of the pains, I just couldn't do it.

Prior commitment with Spalt! had me at the library. AFT's name was on the line so we did our best. It was a grueling few hours where the actors had to remember their lines and their blocking while I managed the backstage with my 5 man team. Thank you Serena for coming half way! Honestly woman I don't think I could have survived the rest of the day without you. Hopefully the production goes well this coming Saturday.

After that, immediately went off to meet my mum and sis where they tried buying clothes. I was slightly out of character so I refused to purchase any clothes. I knew I was being unreasonable but couldn't help it. Then went home and trudged about wearing a dress and a simple chain. By this time, I was in a terrible mood but had controlled myself enough for everyone to think I was okay, everyone except my mum.

The drive to the restuarant where Avinesh's birthday was taking place was alright. I kept thinking things were just going to get worse. But it didn't.

When I got there, I ran to Haresh and Avinesh (ofcourse my sis and I pushed each other aside). Seeing the two of them reminded me why I was there. Despite being tierd and weary, family is family. My mum ingrained it into us that family was everything and hence being present at special occassions was essential.

Then Prabs came and the two of us sculpted balloons for the kids. She did most of the work : )

Then the cake was cut...this is the cake...

Brilliant isn't it? Care bear Cupcakes. And some of the cupcakes had care bear rings on it. lol we all grabbed them. I practically went around hunting for the rings. Found 3, gave away 2, left with 1.

We then dropped Prabs off and headed home. And that was when the pain returned!!! But you know what, it was all worth it.

Sunday came and it was obviously NATIONAL DAY PARADE!!! It was awesome. Started off with heading over to Arts @ Canberra to support Henry and Naathan. Henry emceed and Naathan was Stage Manager. Yoga came along and the two of us basically watched and enjoyed the hip hop performances. Then had to suddenly head back home to grab something important. Then headed back and by then, the live telecast of the National Day Parade at the hardcourt was starting.

And all of sudden, Archana asks us to become the motivators. Sameer, Idham, Yoga, Naathan, Prabs, Ganesh, Henry and I recived bagpacks and just started to rouse the crowd. It was so much of fun because we banged on the hand drums and switched on the heart shaped lights while shouting out the words to the songs. By 8.30pm, we were tired but still interested in heading off to watch UP!

It was brilliant and I watched it with Prabs,Naathan, Yoga, Ganesh and Ravin.

Up! is a movie for all ages as is every Walt Disney production. There is so much to remember and laugh at and I loved every second of that movie.

After that, headed back home with them all and ended up hanging out until 5am doing nothing but talk. We all enjoyed it and it was definitely fun.

Haresh had stayed over at my house and so had Soorya. Love Haresh so much. He was so adorable sleeping in sis' room. The little tyke was holding on to the lollipop my sis had bought for him like his life depended on it.

Anyways, once i got home, slept for 2 hours, got up and set off with my family for a picnic at Sembawang beach.

It was cool cause we played dog and bone and found like a gazillion starfishes along the beach. Had so much of fun that I almost forgot I was tierd xD.

Once we got home, slept abit then my mum and I headed of to NUS so that we could clean my room. YEAH! I got a room on campus lol. We attacked it like soldiers would take to a battlefield.

With that done, we headed back, did some shopping. Went down, printed some stuff, talked with Isabelle and Ganesh

Like I said, my weekend was....nice ; )

Ignore the annoying woman speaking at the beginning of every video. I couldn't embed the originals without her so just skip it if you want and watch the trailer.

I had to put these three movie trailers up because I thought they were brilliant and have excellent storylines.

You're Mine to Push, Bully, Love and Protect

I can't apologise for the words I utter or the actions that I carry out. They are choices I knowingly make.

You know I would push and pull you just to see how far I can go before pricking your pride. You do the same to me sometimes.

You know I would bully you by tapping on your most vulnerable side just to see you tear from the corner of your eye. You do the same to me sometimes.

But you know what others see?

I would love you more than anyone else in this world not because we share the same blood or come from the same womb. It's because you let me fight with you when I'm agitated and pissed. You let me argue with you for no comprehensible reason. And even when we hurt each other so badly that all I want to do is curl up in bed and never get up, I hear your voice the next day and we both forget what happened the night before.

I would protect you fiercely from anyone who would hurt you and not because we share the same mother.

It's because, you are fragile and vulnerable in my eyes.
It's because you can be overly trusting most of the time.
It's because, I know you would do the same for me and our two little brothers.
It's because you're my little sister.

Musical, Bidding and MJ Tribute!!!

Seated at my dining table with my mother's unmarked worksheets beckoning me to flip the pages for her, I just had to swtich on my trusty, at times failing, Acer laptop just to update my blog on what's been happening for the past one week.

I've been MIA on the internet with my facebook left to accumulate nearly 103 updates, my yahoo email account to gather 168 unread emails, of which by the way only 45 were worth reading and ofcourse, my blog to rot and my words to gather dust. So this is going to be a rather and I would like to think interesting update on the happenings for the past one week.

But I must warn you though, if you intent to fall asleep while reading my post here, just change the webpage...and I'll blame your drooping eyelids on a long tiring day rather than on my long winded blog post.

So....let's talk MUSICAl. I had been busy for the past one month moving back and forth from the comfort of my own home in Sembawang to the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus based in Clementi. And for that 1 and a half hour ride, I travel to build and paint sets for the production I was aiding in. Let me tell you that for the past one week, it has been hell. Traveling early in the morning to the University Cultural Centre's theatre to bunk in the sets and carry them about has not only been physically exhausting but mentally exhausting.

Physically for obvious reasons; each piece of set had to be more than 10kg. There was a moving train that spewed smoke from the chimney and ofcourse the facade that lowered from the flybars. I painted two 15 feets horses and I've never been proud about my artwork lol. And let me tell you, the other sets were brilliant!!! There was a large fountain, a mansion scene, a cowboy street during festive seasons and so on so forth.

Mentally simply because I like to know everything and in this case it was impossible. Most of my friends would know that I'm a freak for details and information. I rather know everything about what I'm about to do before I do it. I think it just makes me feel more in control of the situation as I would be able to contribute ideas and such. But in this case, I had no leadership position in that department none whatsoever. But therein lay the lesson I learnt...

Sometimes being a good leader means being a good team player. And when you're a team player, you're job is to make your leader's plan successful by all means possible.

Plus it helped that Yoga, Prabs and my sis were there backstage. Thank you Yoga and Prabs for coming even with you throat infection and fever respectively. And my sis, thank you so much for coming even though I know you hate getting dirt under your nails...although you did in the end!!! But seriously the three of you'll were awesome : )

And to Uwa, Pru, Sasi, Suran, Sara, Anitha, Anu and Prakash, thank you for making it all worthwhile. You guys are force to reckon with and it was a pleasure working with you'll.

Right then, moving on. Bidding!!! Yes, well, only one paragraph will be dedicated to this. While the production preparation was going on, we had to do bidding for our modules and I nearly died outbidding others. God. Seriously there must be a better way to attain the modules you want.

So on a Friday night, I trudge back home, tired, with a gash on my bag, blisters on my hands, bruises on my legs and nail punctures on my fingers, I fall onto my bed exhausted only to wake up the next morning recalling that we had an MJ tribute to do. When I reached the CC, there were only 7 of us there and I have to admit, I was disappointed with a few people who promised to turn up but never did and having 7 people do an MJ tribute was kind of ridiculous. Even then, I reminded myself that we were doing this because we respected Michael and wanted to pay respect for his work as well as have some fun doing it.

As we set off for our first stop, Bugis, we start recieving messages from unknown numbers telling us what colour shirts they were wearing and confirming where to meet up. And so from a 7 man team, we turned into a 24 man team. And so, we performed at Bugis at precisely 1pm.

Then, having made new friends,we set off for Orchad, Taka. After having lunch and chit chatting most of the time, we performed at exactly 4pm and by this time, our 24 man team had turned into a 35 man team.

Excitement surging freshly through our blood we decide to perform it once more at Orchad, outside Ion. This was at 4.20pm.

And finally, we went to Vivo City where we slacked at the rooftop for nearly 2 hours. We played games, made friends with drunked people from Belgium and Spain, performed forfeits where I ran around the rooftop trying to imitate baywatch (failed attempt obviously), ate dinner on our laps, danced to the beat of a drumline group that performed there and finally ofcourse, at 7.40pm, performed 'Beat it' for the final time. We did twice though, one after another.

And why 7.40pm and not 7.30pm as we had orignially planed? Because, our speaker's battery failed and we had to find a power point. Thank you Sathin for doing so and tolerating my scolding. This video is kind of dark but if you do want to see a clearer one, click on this link...
